Meet Josh, our 9-year-old local Hollywood star
A BRIGHT young star from Jiggi has been dubbed a little Marlon Brando by the director of the new Hollywood supernatural thriller, Triangle.
Nine-year-old Josh McIvor plays Tommy in the movie, which is being filmed on the Gold Coast, and his on-screen mother is Australian actress Melissa George ( 30 Days of Night, Alias).
Triangle is designed to be a box-office hit and it is Josh's first feature film.
Director Christopher Smith is pleased with Josh's performances so far in the film and commented on how professional he was for a young boy.
And Josh is keeping a fairly level head on his pre-pubescent shoulders. Forget the glamour of attending Hollywood premiers and meeting A-list celebrities, the budding movie star just wants to act.
“I'm going to be a giant movie star,” Josh said. “I want to do this for the rest of my life.
“My favourite part of the film is the crash scene, which looked pretty cool, and the blood they put on my face was very cool.
“I just want to do as much acting as I can. It's pretty fun.”
Josh experienced his first taste of the perks that go along with being a Hollywood movie star with his own trailer on the set of the film.
“The trailer was great. It was air-conditioned and I played PlayStation2 while I was waiting,” he said.
Although Josh doesn't get star struck around celebrities, he was impressed with Ms George.
“Melissa George is definitely really nice,” he said. “And she has a really big, fancy trailer. But she's also a really good actor.”
Josh's mother, Sarah Hall, is proud of her son and vows to support him in his dream for as long as he wants to pursue it. ”
