Medical students return home to finish studies
AUSTIN May and Penelope Willcocks are among the 14 new students at the Coffs Harbour Rural Clinical School.
Austin and Penelope are from Coffs Harbour and Macksville have returned to complete the fifth year of medical studies at the University of New South Wales Rural Clinical School at the Coffs Harbour Health Campus.
Austin said that it's wonderful to be home, “it's a very exciting place to live.”
“It's a wonderful opportunity to come back to your home town,” he said.
“I want to give back to the area I come from.”
The Campus is designed for students who wish to study medicine in a rural environment. The aim of the Rural Clinical School is to provide diversified educational opportunities in rural health and medical training.
Many students in the group come from a city background, and listed the Coffs Harbour campus as their first preference. Three of the students studied at the Rural Clinical School last year.
