Medical centre gets local help

A SECOND generation Coffs Harbour building firm has won the job to build our newest medical centre.

FM Glenn will build the facility to be constructed west of the current Aldi supermarket at Park Beach Plaza.

This follows the completion of Gateway House behind Park Beach HomeBase last year by the firm.

The cost of the development, which includes demolishing and rebuilding the KFC outlet at Park Beach Plaza, will be around $6- million and is expected to create 30 full-time construction jobs during building work.

“We are very happy to be working again with FM Glenn as they are quality builders and we have formed a good relationship with them and their contractors,” Bachrach Group general manager Steve Gooley said.

He said both Park Beach Plaza and FM Glenn were committed to using local builders and subcontractors to ensure the development dollars stayed in Coffs Harbour to support the local community and the Coffs Coast economy.

Mr Gooley said the new KFC was expected to open in early August and the medical centre, which will be operated by private health care providers Healthscope, was expected to open before Christmas.
