Medals aplenty for juniors

WITH more than two thousand competitors hitting the sand and water at Tacking Point last week, the pace was hectic and at times chaotic with dangerous seas making it a necessity to move water events to Flynn's Beach for the safety of all concerned.

This created a logistical nightmare for many competitors as the decision had to be made to finish competing in either sand or water events.

Had this not been the case, then the final tally board may have looked different with our local clubs fairing even higher in the pointscore.

Collectively Junior Surf Lifesavers from the North Coast Branch returned with 45 Gold, 34 silver and 34 bronze medals.

Each junior competitor who attended the three days at the NSW Country Titles achieved success for their Branch just by participating.

Judging by the displays of surf skills in difficult conditions, the future crop of surf lifesavers who will look after the public safety on our beaches is a very talented one to say the least.

Congratulations to:

Damian Attwood (Coffs) for his gold in U14 beach flags, Taylor Meagher (Saw) gold U14 female beach flags, Lachlan McRae (Nam H) Gold U13 beach sprint and bronze U13 beach flags, Woolgoolga Red silver in U13 beach relay.
