Meals recipients get hampers as well

COFFS Harbour Meals on Wheels recipients will receive something extra with their Christmas lunch this year.

Bright red parcels full of Christmas surprises are on the 'sleighs' of delivery drivers today through the efforts of the Rotary Club of Coffs Harbour Daybreak.

The co-ordinator of the project, Marlene Power, said the Daybreak members wanted to make sure that Meals on Wheels recipients didn't miss out on all the good things that were often taken for granted at Christmas time.

“Our community service committee has put together a small hamper of goodies that includes things like a mini Christmas cake, mince tart, chocolates, fresh and preserved fruit, chips and biscuits,” Ms Power said.

“We hope that our hampers might help make this Christmas just a little bit more festive for those in our community who rely on the wonderful service provided all year round by the Coffs Harbour Meals on Wheels volunteers.”
