Bennett celebrates 700th game with Sharks win

MASTER coach Wayne Bennett celebrated his milestone 700th game against the Sharks at Remondis Stadium in familiar fashion - with a 31-18 win.

Sadly, wins have been rare for the veteran mentor in a losing season in 2014, which is an uncommon sight for the seven-time premiership winning coach.

But all that was put aside as his team ran in five tries to three yesterday, coming back from an 18-6 half-time deficit.

The Knights found their attacking edge in the second stanza with four-pointers to Akuila Uate, Kurt Gidley, Beau Scott and Jarrod Mullen, after Willie Mason scored late in the first half.

Uate put his troops back in the contest after picking up a Mullen kick which bounced fortuitously. Gidley then dummied and took the line on to score in the 57th minute, before setting up Scott's try six minutes later.

Mullen then sealed the game with a try and field goal.
