VIDEO: Explosion shockwave felt for kilometres

UPDATE: When Cory Miller first heard a gas cylinder fire raging at Clark Tanks in Dalby, he thought a storm had hit early.

"When we first heard it sounded like thunder which was one of the LPG tanks hoses blowing everywhere like a flamethrower," Mr Miller said.

"That's when it exploded and the shockwave was intense.

"There was so much heat from the explosion as well. For a split second I thought I was dead."

Mr Miller, who works at Hillcrest Stock Crates near Clark Tanks, filmed the dramatic footage of the moment the tank exploded.

The suspected gas cylinder caught fire at Clark Tanks earlier today, sending toxic fumes pouring into the air.

Senior Constable Dan O'Hara said the explosion occurred at 2.30pm.

"There are highly flammable plastics and possible toxic fumes in there," he said.

An approximately 40-year-old man suffered minor burns to his face and chest and a second degree burn to his hand.

He was transported to Dalby Hosptial.

Mr Miller said he was told the man was filling up a gas bottle when the hose let go and sparked.

Constable O'Hara said investigations into the cause of the explosion were continuing.
