Mason Lee kill accused back behind bars

A TEEN charged over the killing of Mason Lee has been dragged back to jail for breaching his bail just weeks after a Supreme Court judge controversially freed him.

Ryan Robert Barry Hodson appeared in the Caboolture Magistrates Court yesterday after he allegedly made contact with a witness in breach of his bail conditions.

It comes just three weeks after the 18-year-old was freed on bail for a second time in the Brisbane Supreme Court, despite having breached conditions five times, in a decision which sparked calls to change the State's bail legislation.

Hodson, who was charged with manslaughter over the toddler's death last year, made no application for bail.

His release by Justice Debra Mullins three weeks ago prompted the Queensland Homicide Victims Support Group to write to the State Government "to seek changes in the rules and regulations around bail" - in particular expressing concern about the number of times offenders could apply for bail.
