Manhunt ensues after prison escape

TWO men led police and corrective services personnel on a chase after escaping the minimum security section of Grafton jail yesterday afternoon.

It is believed the men were seen scaling the fence around the section at about 2pm, which kicked-off a large-scale pursuit through Grafton to the area near the bridge in South Grafton.

According to Inspector Murray Gillett of Grafton police, one man was reportedly recaptured by police shortly after while another was still at large last night.

An extensive search continued last night with boats and sniffer dogs scouring the area around the southern side of the Grafton Bridge in a bid to find the man.
