A MAN remains in a serious condition following a stabbing attack in Coffs Harbour last night.

Shortly after 10.30pm, the 32-year-old Coffs Harbour man was stabbed in the neck during an altercation with a man and woman at a home in West High St.

Police say the male offender lunged from behind a brick wall and stabbed the victim causing an 8-10cm laceration to the right side of his neck.

The offender then smashed the front window before fleeing the scene with the woman.

Witnesses who heard the incident contacted emergency services and the victim was treated by paramedics on-scene.

He was later admitted to Coffs Harbour Health Campus for surgery and remains in a serious, but not life threatening condition.

An investigation is continuing as to the nature of the altercation and whether or not the offenders are known to the victim.
