A MAN believed to be a recreational fisherman was rescued on Sunday morning when his dinghy overturned near the V-Wall at Nambucca Heads.
Local surf life saving volunteers and Marine Rescue staff were tasked to assist police at the scene after the alarm was raised.
A fellow boatie saw the man in the water and performed a rescue before towing him back to land.
Initial witness reports say a fast moving current had been taking the man out to sea and that he had been in some danger before assistance arrived.
Officers are still to advise whether or not the rescued man was wearing a life jacket.
Police remain at the scene and investigations are continuing.
