Man in court after Saturday’s alleged assault in Coffs park

A MAN has been charged following an alleged assault in Coffs Harbour yesterday.

About 5am on Saturday, a man and a woman were in Fitzroy Park next to the War Memorial Olympic Pool when they were approached by a 32-year-old man armed with a knife.

Police will allege the 32-year-old man assaulted a 43-year-old man.

The woman was not injured.

The 43-year-old man attended Coffs Harbour Police Station to report the incident, where he also sought medical treatment.

Officers from Coffs/Clarence Local Area Command attended the scene and arrested a 32-year-old man.

He was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station and charged with armed with intent, intimidation and malicious wounding.

The man was refused bail to appear at Coffs Harbour Local Court today.
