Man impaled at Bonville flown to Gold Coast by chopper

A MAN is in a critical but stable condition in Gold Coast University Hospital after being impaled on a star picket during what is believed to be a home renovation gone wrong at Bonville.

Around 1.20pm Sunday, NSW Ambulance paramedics attended the scene after it was reported the 45-year-old fell from a ladder and suffered his serious injuries.

An ambulance road team assessed the patient and transported him to Coffs Harbour Health Campus in a critical condition, where he received surgical treatment.

Following the treatment the Westpac Life Saver Rescue Helicopter organised the transport to the Gold Coast where he is now undergoing treatment.

No further details are known at this time.
