Man facing court after shots fired in Stuarts Point argument

A MAN has been charged after shots were fired at Stuarts Point south of Macksville on Saturday night.

Police have been told an argument broke out early in the evening between a 23-year-old man and a group of people outside a home on Marine Parade.

About 9pm there was a further interaction between the two, when a Mitsubishi Lancer drove past the home.

The 23-year-old man walked into the front yard, carrying a shotgun and allegedly fired shots into the air.

The group drove from the scene.

Police haven't received any reports of injuries.

Officers attached to Mid North Coast Local Area Command were called and commenced investigations.

Following inquiries, police searched a home and seized a shotgun, a box of shotgun rounds, two spent cartridges and a baseball bat.

A 23-year-old man was arrested at the scene and later charged with possess loaded firearm in public place (causing danger with a firearm), use unauthorised firearm, possess/use unregistered firearm, possess unauthorised firearm and possess ammunition.

The man was granted conditional bail to appear at Kempsey Local Court on Monday, July 14.
