Man detained, assaulted tourist: court

A MAN accused of kidnapping a Japanese tourist, cuffing her to his bed and repeatedly assaulting her has been arrested in Sydney's south.

On Tuesday the 48-year-old local man allegedly grabbed the 29-year-old woman, took her to his house and forcibly detained her.

When she was released the woman reported the alleged attack to police.

Officers arrested the man at his home on Wednesday night and took him to the Miranda station where he was charged with three counts of aggravated sexual assault and one count of kidnapping in circumstances of aggravation.

He was refused bail and will front court Thursday afternoon.
