Man charged with home invasion

A NAMBUCCA Heads man, 36, has been arrested and charged over an alleged home invasion at South Grafton.

Police acted on the laboratory tests from a blood swab taken from a pair of jeans to execute the arrest on Saturday.

It's alleged the man was one of three people, who forced entry to a house in Ryan St, South Grafton and assaulted a 43-year-old man and two other occupants in the early hours of December 28, last year. 

The 43-year-old received treatment in hospital for cuts to his hands.

During the execution of a search warrant on a property in the days after the alleged incident, police said officers seized a pair of jeans with suspected blood stains.

Police said the results of DNA testing on the jeans has now indicated the profiles of the alleged attacker and his victim were present in the samples.

On Saturday, Coffs-Clarence police charged the man with robbery in company; specially aggravated break, enter and commit serious indictable offence; and use of an offensive weapon in company.

He was bail refused and is due to appear in Grafton Local Court today. 

Another man has already been charged and police say a third man is currently assisting with inquiries.
