Man charged for allegedly trying to drug and kill woman

A 41-year-old accused of drugging and trying to kill a woman in south-west Brisbane has handed himself in on the Sunshine Coast.

Police say the man from Warner gave a drug to the woman at a Curlew Court home before trying to suffocate her.

After a struggle, the woman escaped to a neighbour's house and called for help, say police.

He later arrived at the Maroochydore Police Station where he was taken into custody.

He has been charged with one count each of attempted murder and administering a stupefying drug with intent to commit an indictable offence.

He is due to appear in Maroochydore Magistrates Court today, March 28.
