Man charged over speargun incident
NAMBUCCA Valley police have charged a man after he allegedly threatened a youth with a speargun.
Police said the incident happened in Bellwood Park at Nambucca Heads at 1.30pm on Tuesday.
Investigators allege the 18-year-old pulled a speargun from his car boot and threatened a youth, 17.
It is further alleged he later drove toward a group of people who had to jump out of the way to avoid being hit.
He was charged with assault, custody of an offensive implement, possessing a loaded speargun, carrying a speargun in a manner likely to injure, possessing prohibited fishing gear, failing to pay a fishing fee and driving recklessly or dangerously.
In other news, a woman, 47, was charged with two counts of malicious damage by fire after a nasty incident at Macksville on Monday night.
Police allege the woman set fire to personal belongings on a porch after a dispute with another occupant of the East Street home.
Fire crews were twice called to the property but no-one was injured.
Police said the woman allegedly caused about $5000 worth of damage.
