Man arrested in Beryl Street

POLICE converged on a Coffs Harbour home following reports of an armed man outside a home.

Officers were called to Beryl Street at 4.20pm on Wednesday when they were told by anxious residents the man was outside a home and was armed with a crossbow and a knife.

They swiftly arrived at the scene and confronted the man outside, but he was not armed, police said.

An officer drew a taser gun as a precaution but the man was arrested without incident and was taken to Coffs Harbour Police Station.

An apprehended violence order was later issued on behalf of a 21-year-old woman.

Police understand the drama was sparked by a domestic dispute.
