Man arrested with 36kg of cannabis at train station

A QUEENSLAND man has been charged after police allegedly found 36kg of cannabis in his possession at Sydney Central Railway Station.

At 8.30am today officers from Police Transport Command were patrolling platform one of Central Railway Station when they spoke to a man in the passenger waiting room.

Upon searching the man's two suitcases, police located a large amount of cannabis. The combined weight of the cannabis was found to be 36kg, with an estimated street value of almost $300,000.

The 35-year-old Queensland man was taken to Surry Hills Police Station where he was subsequently charged with supply prohibited drugs - commercial quantity.

He was refused bail to appear at Central Local Court today (6 July 2015).
