Man allegedly held captive and tortured on Christmas Eve

A MAN who went to buy a motorcycle was allegedly held captive and tortured inside a Marsden home on Christmas Eve.

In a statement released early Christmas Day, police allege two men beat, burnt and robbed the 40-year-old Marsden man from about 10pm on December 23 until he was able to escape about 5pm on December 24.

"The man, who had arrived at the address to enquire about purchasing a motorcycle from people known to him, was allegedly assaulted with unknown implements and burnt with an unknown substance during his ordeal, and had personal property stolen," Queensland Police said.

"The man managed to escape and raise the alarm. He was transported to Beaudesert Hospital for treatment to bruises, lacerations and burns."

The two alleged torturers, a 48-year-old Marsden man and a 29-year-old Crestmead man, have been charged with torture, deprivation of liberty and several other charges.

They were denied police bail and are expected to appear in Southport Magistrates Court on Boxing Day.
