Qld man, 79, to face court over nursing home stabbing

A 79-YEAR-OLD man will face court today charged with attempted murder after an alleged stabbing at a Sandgate aged care facility on Monday afternoon.

Police said they were called to Wakefield Street in the Brisbane bayside suburb about 1pm following reports of an alleged stabbing.

Upon arrival they located a 76-year-old man with lacerations to his face and neck.

The 76-year-old Sandgate man was taken to the Prince Charles Hospital for treatment.

It has been reported the two men were residents of the same nursing home.

A 79-year-old man from Sandgate has been charged with one count of attempted murder and is due to appear in Pine Rivers Magistrates Court on Tuesday.
