Making routine exercise a priority

FRIENDS often say to me they would like to exercise regularly but just don't have the time.

Time is something none of us ever have enough of each day.

Interestingly, though, we usually find the time to do the things that are priorities for us.

So for those of us who do not exercise regularly, it's likely that exercise is either not a priority or is low on our list of priorities.

Those who are successful at doing regular exercise will prioritise it above many other activities they need to do each day.

This does not mean the other activities are unimportant. It just means these people consider taking care of themselves to be one of their highest priorities … and so they should.

Don't view this approach as being selfish. When maintaining health and fitness, it is essential you spend quality time which is, in effect, "all about you";.

Make a commitment to yourself to be physically active and then schedule time in your diary today to exercise every day for the next month.

Consider it a "meeting with ourselves"; that cannot be changed, except for an emergency of life-and-death consequences.

If you don't use a diary, then schedule in the same time each day to have a "meeting with yourself"; to focus on being active.

Whatever works for you, just make sure daily exercise is a high priority on your schedule and allow yourself to spend some time which is "all about you";.
