Major burn planned for Mt Archer over the next few days

ROCKHAMPTON Police and the Queensland Fire and Emergency Service would like to advise local residence of a major hazard reduction burn within the Mt Archer National Park tomorrow.

From tomorrow and through until Friday, Rural Fire Service Queensland and Queensland Parks and Wildlife Service will conduct the burn in order to reduce fuel loads and allow for forest regeneration.

As a result, smoke may be seen in the Rockhampton City, Frenchville, Lakes Creek and Koongal areas.

Police would like to remind drivers to drive to the road conditions and in the event of heavy smoke, to take all relevant precautions.

Residents suffering asthma or those who have other breathing difficulties are urged to take the necessary precautions.
