Magpies swoop in to beat Tigers

IT rained goals at Stuart Park on Saturday with Port Macquarie finishing well to notch up its second win for the season in an important match against Grafton.

The Tigers were competitive and led at the end of the first quarter but they were cruelled by the loss of star key position players Justin Darby and Daniel Zacek prior to half-time.

This buoyed the Magpies side and took the wind out of the Tigers in a lop-sided second half.

Jesse Schmidt and Greg Conway led the procession in an accurate showing up forward. Schmidt finished the day with nine goals while Conway kicked six of his own.

The pair received support from Craig Dicker and Clayton Miechel in an even showing from the home side.

The Tigers will have to bounce back as they face another road trip next week to play Nambucca Valley while the Magpies will this time head north to take on the irrepressible Sawtell in the match of the round.
