Magpies swoop for a huge win

PORT Macquarie maintained their form before the mid-season break with a massive win over a disappointing Nambucca Valley at Macksville Park.

It was obvious Scott Payne and his coaching staff did their homework as the Magpies built on their lead at every change.

Nambucca star Aaron Clarke was high on their hit list and he was well held despite showing some glimpses of brilliance.

Captain Shannon Skreja was inspirational for the victors and was a driving force both in the middle and in and around pack situations.

Any hopes of a Lions' comeback were snuffed early in the third term, with the pace of the Port outfit proving too much over four quarters.

While Nambucca had passengers despite the best efforts of Luke Benson and Monty Schmidt, it was another team performance that helped the southern side to their third consecutive win and second place on the ladder.
