Magpies aiming to soar in FFA Cup
FOOTBALL: Magpies coach Dan Healy admits he feels his team will have underachieved if they don't win tommorow night's regional FFA Cup game against Rockhampton's Frenchville.
"This is a goal I have set for myself as a coach of this team," Magpies coach Dan Healy said.
Mackay's last standing FFA Cup team will take to its home pitch tomorrow, with the game kicking off at 7 o'clock.
Healy expects to see an organised and highly competitive opposition take the field.
"They are a good club and have a good history in this competition," he said.
"We need to learn from our previous game and ensure we take a step forward."
Healy hopes his defensive players can maintain their good form from previous games.
"They have been consistent and haven't allowed points to be scored against us for two games," he said.
"If the boys can continue to do this, it will be a boost for us, allowing our offence to feel less pressure."
The Magpies coach is confident his team is under no illusion when it comes to the task ahead.
"As you progress, the level of play gets higher, you have less time on the ball," he said.
"This means we have to be fast, think quickly and control the tempo."
"I told the boys to stay humble after our recent victory. We won't make excuses regardless of the outcome tomorrow night."
In light of the recent events with the Mackay Football Park, Healy hopes tonight's game can be a positive step forward.
"I hope to see a decent home crowd turn out, to show support," he said.
