Mackay car thief’s wheely bad move

POLICE are investigating a bizarre car theft after a person went to extraordinary lengths to get a new ride.

The unknown person stole a car without wheels from a vacant block of land in the Mackay CBD.

The theft occurred on Alfred Street, Mackay City between 6.30pm on May 30 and 7am on June 1.

The vehicle was a black 2005 model Holden Commodore ute with registration number GIB 88.

Police said visible marks in the turf suggested that the Holden was dragged from the area.

They also received information that mechanical noises were heard during the night.
