Macca’s launches new menu - with a catch

McDonald's has announced it is launching a very special new chicken-only menu which features nine new items.

The fast-food giant plans to trial the new chicken-based menu. But there's a catch - it's available only in South Australian and for a limited time.

Its expanded offering will introduce diners to five new burgers including a "Macca's take on an Aussie icon": the Chicken Schnitty burger.

Other additions include a "Teriyaki Burger", which comes with an Asian twist, thanks to crispy slaw and teriyaki sauce and "Parmi burger", which also riffs on the iconic schnitty theme.

Other burger offerings set to debut include the "McSpicy", created for "Aussies who like to turn up the heat" and the "Chicken Pickle Burger".

While chicken nuggets remain a standard menu item, the burger chain is introducing three new types of nugget to capture the tastebuds of adventurous foodies.

These include "Chicken Delights", a crunchy snack made from Australian chicken breast, "Chicken Tenders", and "Spicy Shaker Tenders", made for those "who want to spice it up".

The trial menu will also feature an update on its traditional french fries by offering these with a serving of chicken salt.

Jo Feeney, Marketing Director at McDonald's Australia said the new menu was designed to cater to a growing demand for chicken - and to offer customers an array of new tastes.

"We know there's a lot of love for chicken out there, and as a customer-led business that always looks for ways to give our customers more of what they want, we're excited to test out this expanded chicken menu with South Australians.

"As we know, South Australians love chicken burgers and nuggets, so it made sense to us to give them a chance to review this exciting new menu.

There's something for every chicken lover, whether you're a fan of spice, pickles, a parmi, or a sprinkle of chicken salt on your fries," said Ms Feeney.
