Lyon looks to fight back on Aussie wickets

AFTER a forgettable year that has seen him capture just 14 Test wickets at 61.5, Australia's No.1 spin bowler Nathan Lyon says he is confident of recapturing his best form ahead of the series against India starting in Brisbane next month.

Lyon, who missed the last Sheffield Shield match against South Australia because of the birth of his second child, said he was ready to strike back in the next match against Queensland starting at the Gabba on Saturday after missing out against Pakistan on spin-friendly wickets in the UAE. "I'm confident in my skill to get the job done no matter what," he said. "It's unfortunate it didn't happen in Abu Dhabi and Dubai."

Lyon (pictured) took 3-422 in two Tests in the UAE, while Blues teammate and fellow spinner Steve O'Keefe returned 4-219 on debut before being dropped for the second Test.

The 29-year-old took 5-24 in the second innings for NSW as the Blues beat South Australia by 168 runs.
