IPSWICH student Lydia Wilson has shot into the top five in a national model search.

Members of the public have been invited to vote for their favourite model in the Star in a Bra competition, which attracted more than 200 entrants from across Australia.

Despite having no experience, Ms Wilson's popularity will give her the opportunity to fly to Sydney tomorrow to take part in a magazine photo shoot and appear on the Mornings With Kerri-Anne show with the other four finalists.

If the 24-year-old wins the model search, she will take up a contract and become the new face of the Curvy Kate plus-size lingerie range.

For someone who initially entered the competition as a challenge, Ms Wilson said she was starting to get nervous.

“I didn't expect anything to come out of this – it was just a case of giving it a go,” she said.

“But now that everyone has got behind me, I'm starting to get used to the idea of being a model.”

The University of Southern Queensland student is one of three finalists from the Sunshine State, with the other two from New South Wales.

So far Ms Wilson has only spoken to the other top models via Facebook, but said she was excited to meet them in person tomorrow.

She will leave bright and early at 6am for the biggest day of her foray into modelling so far.

“I'm a bit nervous but I study film and TV at uni so at least I know how it all works,” she said.

Measuring in at 14DD, Ms Wilson is looking for the Ipswich community to again support her quest to become the face of Curvy Kate.

Those wanting to vote should keep an eye on the Curvy Kate Facebook page over the next week.
