Luke ready to ride for charity

LOCAL credit union bcu is again the principal sponsor of Luke Hartsuyker's annual charity bike ride.

The Cowper MP's 300 km ride will commence in Maclean on Monday July 21 and finish in Kempsey two days later.

All funds raised this year will go to the Mid North Coast Disabled Surfers' Association, Kempsey's Macleay Vocational College and the Maclean Hospital Auxiliary.

"All three organisations deserve support from the community and I invite businesses and clubs to get behind the fundraising drive," Luke said.

"The Disabled Surfers' Association do some great work providing people with disabilities the chance to go to the beach and get in the surf. Such activity is not only physically beneficial but it has the capacity to improve an individual's confidence.

Mr Hartsuyker said the support of bcu was invaluable.

"Having a community focused business such as bcu as principal sponsor has been important to the fundraising success of the ride," Luke said.

"They have been right behind the charity ride concept from day one, so it's great to have their support again in 2014.

Anyone who wants to support the ride should contact Luke's office on 66 526233.

Donations can be made electronically by transferring to the DSA/MVC at the bcu BSB704328 and account number 222737.
