Lucky retiree wins $2m from Lotto

A LISMORE pensioner has moved from struggle street to easy street after he won $2 million in Lotto's Wednesday draw.

The retiree, who bought his ticket from Scott's News @ Molesworth Street, Lismore, and wished to remain anonymous, said he was unaware of his new millionaire status until contacted by NSW Lotteries yesterday morning.

“You are joking me. Oh thank you so very much, you have no idea what this means,” he said.

“I'm shaking from head to toe. You really don't know how much this will help us. I was forced to retire many years ago due to illness, since then life has been one big struggle and now I can put that behind us.

“My wife and I are both on pensions, but it doesn't stretch very far. We live very modestly, there is no room for luxuries and at times we have had to do without essentials. So you see this is going to turn our lives around. We can now afford to be comfortable.

“We won't go mad spending, we're not like that. We will help our family and make ourselves comfortable for the future.”

He shared the prize one draw with a ticketholder from Coffs Harbour.

Scott's News owner Keiran Scott said it was the biggest winning ticket his shop had sold.

“We sold one last year worth about $100,000, but I think this is the biggest one ever,” he said.

“We don't know who it is, just he's a regular customer. We won't know either unless he brings in a carton to thank the boys.”
