Loudon out for 2010 season
SAWTELL’S premiership winning captain-coach Rohan Loudon will not play again this season.
Loudon injured his knee more than two months ago and has not played since although he did hold some hope of returning to the field before the finals.
Those hopes were dashed on Wednesday when surgery to repair cartilage and a meniscus tear turned into a full knee reconstruction.
Loudon’s surgeon found damage to the anterior cruciate ligament which he chose to repair immediately.
“The cruciate was still there and I was hoping it would grow back and they were just going to fix the meniscus but that didn’t happen so I had to have the full job,” Loudon said.
The Panthers playmaker admitted to being a bit surprised when informed of the procedure after the surgery.
“I’ve been running and training although I didn’t have the confidence to go sideways as good as I wanted to so I just had to go in and find out what was going on,” Loudon said.
“So I thought we might as well go in and do it and, as it turned out, it was full reco.”
Sawtell is currently sitting in second position on the Group 2 table and the title defence continues tomorrow when it plays host to Woolgoolga at Rex Hardaker Oval.
