Look out for danger on the streets

FLAMING bowling balls, machetes, a buzz-saw and a scorpion. Sounds like something out of a horror movie.

But it couldn't be further from the reality. The above mentioned items are just a few of the props used by the World's Most Dangerous Comic, Mark Faje, in his hilarious and exciting juggling act.

Mark has travelled all the way from Chicago for the 2008 Coffs Harbour International Buskers and Comedy festival, and is as excited as ever to be hitting the streets today.

“It's absolutely beautiful here. I'm looking forward to getting out there,” Mark said.

And he's no stranger to crowds. Mark has starred on America's Got Talent, The David Letterman Show, opened concerts for the likes of the Red Hot Chili Peppers and performed in countless comedy clubs and theatres.

“I love comedy clubs, but performing on the street is a skill. To engage people as they walk down the street and aren't expecting a performance is one of the hardest things to do,” he said.

“From what I've seen so far, the talent for the festival is really good. I'm so glad I can be a part of it.”

You can catch Mark, flaming bowling ball and all, at the Coramba Hotel at 4pm today, plus at a number of venues over the next eight days. • Check the program on page 37 of today's Coffs Coast Advocate for a full list of events and where to find your favourite buskers during the festival.
