Take a look on the wildside

CYCLE through a bush reserve, trek alongside a lake on two free guided ‘Coffs Ambassadors’ tours on May 15 and 16.

An 8.5km bicycle tour of Toormina’s hidden bushland reserves will be held on May 16, from 9am to 10.30am. This ride will take you on cycle paths, roads and unsealed bush tracks to explore the home territory of koalas, swamp wallabies and other wildlife, and is not suitable for children under 10 riding their own bikes.

A 3.5km medium-grade Hearnes Lake walk will be held at 2-4pm on May 16.

This walk will show visitors the plants and animals that live around this unique lake between Woolgoolga and Sandy Beach and the nesting habitat of the endangered Little Terns on the nearby beach.

During June there will be three more Coffs Ambassador Tours – Woolgoolga Lake and Beach Walk, at 9am on June 5 (1km); Coffs Creek Walk, at 9.30am on June 20 (3km); and Opal Cove and Sustainable Garden Tour, at 9am on June 26 (2km).

Places on tours are limited and bookings are essential and can be made by phoning Coffs Harbour City Council on 6648 4676.
