Longboard finalists decided at Surf Festival

THE finalists in eight longboard divisions were determined today at the bcu Australian Surf Festival.

The semi-finals of the Australian Longboard Titles wrapped up in playful two-foot conditions at Gallows Beach.

The over-35 Men final will be a battle between Victorians and West Australians, after Micheal Pinney (Port Lonsdale, Vic) and Benjamin Pitts (Mt. Martha, Vic) tore through semi-final one while Justin Redman (Dunsborough, WA) and Scott Trew (Mullaloo, WA) took the top two spots in their respective semi-final.

All aforementioned surfers posted wave scores in excess of 7.00 (out of a possible ten points) to take the coveted finals spots.

Jason Livingston (Curl Curl, NSW) continued to blow away the spectators and judges in the over-40 Men, posting a variety of high scoring waves.

The ultra fast natural-footer smashed out an eclectic mix of backhand turns to book himself a spot into tomorrow's final.

Other over-40 Mens finalists include Damian Coulter (Mountain Creek, Qld), Neil Thompson (WA) and in-foem Emerald Beach entrant John Schmidenberg.

Both Livingston and Schmidenberg have also booked themselves a spot into the over-45 Men final where they will face off with Trevor Skinner (Yamba) and Jason Russell (Port Noarlunga South, SA).

Greg Brown (Jan Juc, Vic) continued to dominate the Over-50 Mens division hammering a multitude of sections with his exciting backside attack.

The Victorian surfer posted a 15.50 to take out his semi-final and cement his appearance in tomorrow's finals, where he'll do battle against George Haskas (Maroubra, NSW), Barney Fenasse (Warriewood, NSW) and Terry Day (Coogee, NSW).
