JUST weeks after coming second at Eurovision, Logan star Dami Im has been welcomed home during a celebration at her old school John Paul College.

She performed her hit song 'Sound of Silence' and 'Yesterday Once More' from her current Top Five ARIA album, CLASSIC CARPENTERS.

Ms Im had a special message for students at the school, telling them they all had a bright future ahead.

"I think you all have great potential to do even better than me," she said. "Work hard, the resources are there for you at John Paul College.

"And don't be afraid to try new things, you all have a very bright future."

Logan Mayor Luke Smith said it was "sensational" to have the star back on home soil.

"We are delighted she agreed to come at such short notice, and that tells me she is sincere about her love for Logan," he said. "It reminds every boy and girl in Logan that they can be anything they want to, if they work hard and dream big."

Local mum Debby Kidman took her three children down to the celebration and said it was great.

"It's all a bit overwhelming," she said.

One of the next stops for Ms Im will be a trip to Uganda where she will visit a child she sponsors through Compassion.
