Global battle of the bands

LOCAL rock star wannabes are going to have the chance of a lifetime later this year – to compete in the Global Battle of the Bands (GBOB).

Involving 12,000 musicians from more than 30 countries, the GBOB will be giving local bands the opportunity to gain global recognition and win more than $100,000 in prizes.

What’s more, the Coffs Harbour City Council have thrown their support behind the massive event. In a show of support for youth and music on the Coffs Coast, the Cultural and Community Development Branch of the council has provided a cash prize of $400 for the Coffs Harbour heat winner.

Previous winners have signed deals with Warner Brothers, Universal and EMI.

To register your band in the Coffs Coast Heat email redletter@bigpond.com or phone (02) 9519 3978. For more information on the event visit the GBOB website at www.gbob.com or www.myspace.com/gbobaustralia .
