Local schools smile

THERE was more than four million reasons to smile when Senator Michael Forshaw visited Coffs Harbour yesterday.

The Chair of the Joint Standing Committee on Foreign

Affairs, Defence and Trade was in the city to officially open local projects completed under the Federal Government's ‘Building the Education Revolution' (BER) program.

At the Orara High School , the Senator was greeted by a drum-and-dance performance featuring recently arrived refugee students.(left). They were celebrating the completion of a new science centre which cost just shy of $1.5- million. At the Coffs Harbour Christian Community School (below), Senator Forshaw officially opened a new multi-purpose hall and other refurbishments which came with a whopping price tag of $2.7 million.
