Local in final drag race series round

COFFS Harbour and District Sporting Car Club (CH&DSCC) member Brett Saunders will be competing at the Castrol Edge Jamboree final round of the Sport Compact Drag Racing Series at Willowbank Raceway Queensland next weekend.

Equipped with a Nissan Silvia, Brett will compete in the Street Rear Wheel Drive Class that caters for street-based vehicles.

Parity within the class ensures that entrant's vehicles must follow stringent guidelines one of which includes tyres being street legal.

“This is a dial-your-own class meaning everybody has a chance of winning, no matter how fast the car is,” Saunders said.

“We are really looking forward to having a real crack at this.”

The Sport Compact Drag Racing Series caters for four and six-cylinder vehicles, rotary powered vehicles, right through to the full-blown drag cars, making it one of the largest drag racing events in Australia. A field of 300 competitors is expected to attend the round.

Brett has been a member of CH&DSCC for many years and competed in many of the club's events including Motorkhana, Khanacross and Hillclimb and has represented the club on many occasions.

His passion for the sport is second to none and he is an active club committee member. Brett feels that joining the Sporting Car Club has allowed him to follow his passion in a safe legal environment.
