Local crew wins class, second outright at Jenolan

ROUND one of the NSW State DRS Rally Series at Jenolan Caves saw local rally driver Mark Beard compete against 51 other rallycars from across NSW and ACT.

The Woolgoolga Team competed on eight special stages throughout the Jenolan Forests in 33 degree heat, with Beard taking one fastest stage time and a second five stages inside the top 10.

Temperatures inside the car reached 52 degrees.

There were 20 four wheel drive turbo charged cars in the field, with the BP Woolgoolga Service Centre team finished an amazing second outright, first in class and first 4WD, beating home all the other turbo charged cars in an outstanding effort.

"All thanks go done to the reliability of the little Subaru RS Impreza," Beard said.

"The technicians at BP Woolgoolga Service Centre have once again given me an outstanding car.

"They prepared the car and it ran faultlessly all day.

"The roads were rough, but we just powered on through to only finish 36 seconds behind a BDA Escort with over half more horsepower than my car."

The Woolgoolga crew heads to Glen Innes next month for the next round of the championship.
