Lismore set for great cup meeting

PEOPLE’S champion Takeover Target will be one male stealing attention at tomorrow’s Lismore Ladies Day races.

Trainer Joe Janiak has agreed to parade the champ between races at the South Lismore Cup meeting and then let him do an exhibition gallop up the straight.

With the configuration of the Lismore parade yard and track, punters will be able to get right up close to the great racehorse.

Secretary-manager Michael Timbrell said the visit by ‘Archie’ would be the icing on the cake for the club’s acceptance as a special Sky Racing Channel 2 country venue.

“We are offering free entry plus a glass of champagne to all ladies and we have great prizes on offer in the Fashions on the Field competition,” he said.

Lismore Turf Club has added an extra race to take the card up to six events.

The Northern Rivers racing industry is going through boom times with another nine-race program booked in for Grafton on Monday.
