Lights on for show as eisteddfod gets underway

THE sounds of hooves and passionate punters has been replaced by more talented tones with the 41st Coffs Harbour Eisteddfod taking over the racing club.

Last Friday's downpours came close to drowning out the opening session but nothing could quiet yesterday's colourful performance by Bishop Druitt College students.

Depending on how they score they could be performing again this Sunday in the gala recital which features the stand-out performers form the instrumental, vocal and piano sections

The biggest section, dance, gets underway next Friday, June 7.

Up to 2500 entrants will showcase their performance skills.
