Light up your life at Global

AS the weather starts to hot up, so too does the countdown to this year's Bellingen Global Carnival.

With just over two weeks to go, organisers are gearing up for another spectacular festival full of family fun.

World music lovers can expect another music-packed weekend including international, national and local acts.

Headlining this year's festival is US guitar virtuoso Bob Brozman, along with New Zealand's Batacada Sound Machine, French singing sensation Tete, and Australian dub giants The Red Eyes.

Festival favourites the aerial and circus arena, street performers, and lantern parade are back for another year.

They will be joined by two new attractions, the Dharma village and the Orb lounge.

If you are after a place to chill among the hustle and the bustle of festival life, then drop into the Dharma village.

Early birds will enjoy starting their day with a yoga class or guided meditation. There will be a sand mandala creation by Tibetan monk Lama Khedup, as well as chanting and spiritual discussions.

At night the area doubles as an open-mic and chalkboard performance space.

And new media is introduced in the Orb lounge, a dome space with hemispheric film and sound production.

Tickets for the 2008 Bellingen Global Carnival, on October 3-5, are available from Park Beach Music in the plaza, and Bellingen Video Connection and online at www.moshtix.com.au.
