Licence suspended after high speed reading in Coffs Harbour

TRAVELLING at an alleged speed of 117kmh in a 60kmh zone in Coffs Harbour has seen a man fined and have his licence suspended.

About 8.20am today officers attached to the Traffic Support Group motorcycle unit allegedly detected a white Audi R8 sports car travelling at the high speed on the Pacific Hwy near Englands Rd.

Police stopped and spoke to the driver of the vehicle, a 30-year-old Bella Vista man, issuing him with a traffic infringement notice for exceed speed limit by 40km/h.

The man's licence was suspended and his registration plates were confiscated.

This incident has prompted police to appeal to drivers to do the right thing and adhere to road rules.

Assistant Commissioner, John Hartley, Traffic and Highway Patrol Command, said it's extremely disappointing to see drivers act irresponsibly, especially at the start of the road safety holiday campaign.

"I want to remind all NSW drivers that Traffic and Highway Patrol officers will be out in force over long weekend and will catch you if you choose to break the law and risk lives," Assistant Commissioner Hartley said.
