Library's new name up in lights

WELCOME to the Harry Bailey Memorial Library.

The Coffs Harbour City Council's central library located on the corner of Coff and Duke Sts has had its signage changed to reflect its new name.

Council resolved in October to re-instate the name to honour Cr Bailey who died while President of the Coffs Harbour Shire Council. He served on the council and also the Dorrigo Shire Council for a total of 27 years.

The original dedication plaques from the Harry Bailey Memorial Library are still held for safekeeping at the Central Library.

"It is an honour for the library to be associated with someone as important as Harry Bailey and it is seen as highly appropriate for the City's Library to bear such a name," said Library Manager Enzo Accadia.

A public event will be held early in the New Year to mark the change of name.

Council has three library branches offering services to the community. They can be found in Coffs Harbour, Toormina and Woolgoolga.
