Letter to the Editor - Wednesday, July 8: No need to go west

I WOULD like to comment on the Letter to the Editor (Advocate, Saturday July 4) about the Coffs Harbour Bypass.

The writer states Andrew Fraser has made the right decision in calling for a western bypass.

What the writer does not seem to understand is that this is a political move by our local member, in other words a red herring.

The options were well and truly investigated and the route chosen after many years of pleading.

And before the last State election Andrew Fraser said the State government has $400 million dollars and the Federal Government has promised $800 million but since being elected all he talks about is a Western bypass, which has been ruled out time and time again.

We need a bypass now.
