Letter to the Editor - Saturday, April 2: Sensible Swimming

THE tragic deaths of two swimmers at Park Beach is yet another reminder to swim only between the flags.

But even when swimming between the flags there is still the added risk of shark attacks, particularly at times when they're most likely to feed, at dawn and dusk.

Surely it's time warnings about this added hazard are posted as well.

Taking "revenge" on shark attacks by killing them is neither ethically nor environmentally responsible. The sea is their home. They just can't go anywhere else.

As Saturday's article makes abundantly clear, bathe between the flags, but swim at a sensible time of day, as well.
