Letter to the Editor - June 27: Pope on burning fossil fuel
WE HAVE an Abbott and two Bishops in the Federal Government, perhaps they should listen to their Pope on the issue of man-made climate change. Pope Francis has clearly stated that burning fossil fuel is morally wrong and dangerous for the world and should be phased out over a short transition period.
The Abbott Government is spruiking about preventing the people drowning from sailing in leaking boats to enter Australia.
If the government really wants to prevent people from drowning, all they need to do is to stop the boats full of dangerous fossil fuel leaving Australia.
The burning of coal by the industrial countries is the reason behind many refugees leaving their country due to increased sea-level inundating their homes and gardens. I have friends living on Pacific islands who have already lost their land and livelihood due to increased ocean level.
